In October 2009, the City of Waterloo opened the doors to its new museum at Conestoga Mall.
This permanent display and exhibition space for the City’s Heritage Collection of over 10,000 artefacts, is an exciting opportunity for Heritage Services, part of the City of Waterloo’s Community, Culture and Recreation Services Department.
The mall donated 4000 sq. feet for the museum in an innovative partnership that allows the City’s collection to come out of storage after years, when it was last permanently displayed at the Seagram Museum. The museum at Conestoga Mall allows these valuable and fascinating artefacts to be accessible to the public year round in permanent displays and rotating exhibitions. It will also permit Heritage Resources to proactively add to the collection and provide a wonderful venue for interaction with the community.
